Hammerfall Hints - You Will Need Them!

Posted on Mar 06, 2009 under Games Cheat, Games Review | No Comment

Hammerfall is a RPG game hosted on MySpace that is growing in popularity very quickly. If you are not familiar with RPG games, here is a brief introduction.

RPG stands for Role Playing Game. In the game, you assume the role of a character. The characters sometimes belong to different classes, and each class will have its own unique powers. For example, some characters may have greater strength and stamina, while other characters may have greater magical or healing powers. The character you choose depends on your own personal preferences. If you like, you can even build multiple characters. Of course, at any one time, you can only use one character to play the game.

Hammerfall is a prime example of a well thought out RPG game. For RPG games to be successful, several factors must be present.

1) Interesting storyline.

The story should be compelling enough to lure the player more into the game. Not all RPG games have captivating story lines. When the story is not compelling enough, motivation to complete the quests will certainly be lower.

2) Unique weapons, armory, and other special items.

Artifacts in a RPG game make the game more challenging and exciting. You can acquire an artifact by completing a quest, fighting monsters, buying at the marketplace, or trading with another player. Some artifacts are so rare and hard to find that players may actually pay real cash to acquire the items. An artifact can increase a character’s stats, or enhance the character with some special abilities.

3) Challenging bosses and monsters.

The bosses and monsters are a big part of a RPG game. They present exciting opportunities for players to overcome seemingly insurmountable challenges. To finish off the bosses, a player may have to be patient and wait until the character is of a high enough level.

4) Interesting virtual worlds.

The entire RPG game is all about traveling through virtual worlds, acquiring artifacts, killing monsters, and completing quests. The worlds must be interesting enough to capture the imagination of the players. For example, players may have to go through mazes in the world of the Kalamar Empire.

Street Fighter 4 Strategy - Top 10 Street Fighter 4 New Year’s Resolutions

Posted on Jan 16, 2009 under Games Review, PC Games, Video Games | No Comment

With 2008 coming to a close, what blog would be complete without a post talking about 2009? Therefore, I’ve created this list half-jokingly to hopefully spark a little interest in really stepping up your game in 2009. Getting good at Street Fighter 4 in 2009 should benefit you for years because as we all know, Capcom is bound to at least make SF4: Champion Edition and SF4: Hyper Fighting and you know you’re going to be playing all of them!

So here we go:

1. Quit whiffing throws

This is probably the number one thing most players can do to improve in Street Fighter 4. Even though whiffing throws doesn’t usually lead to death as it does in 3rd Strike, characters like Balrog can still do a huge chunk of damage for whiffing throws if you’re not careful. Instead, learn to Option Select Throw, which means to input LK + LP while blocking. If they throw, you’ll tech, if they don’t throw, you get a jab. Either way, you’re not going to get whiff, so you’ll save yourself a lot of life over the course of 2009.

2. Learn an alternate character

Simply put, learning an alternate character will not only help you understand the matchup between your main and your alternate better, it will give you a semi-secret weapon to use in a tournament to catch someone by surprise and steal a win or two. Or you can use your alternate character to counter-pick someone else, such as using Vega against Sagat or Dhalsim against Balrog.

3. Do your part to strengthen your local community

What good is being the best at Street Fighter 4 if you’re sitting at home by yourself in training mode? Get out there and help run tournaments, make friends with more people, become better friends with the guys you already play with. By strengthening the community, more people will be playing more frequently which will make everyone level up.

4. Start double-tapping

This might be a new one for most people. For those not familiar, double-tapping is where you hit buttons twice very quickly instead of once. This doubles your chances of the game accepting the input, as well as makes timing links and chains easier. The most common way of doing this is to do a scraping motion with your index and middle finger, then scrape so that your middle finger is a split second ahead of your index finger.

5. Start taking notes

I’m pretty positive that doing this has been one of the best improvements I’ve made to my game in a long time. I feel like I was able to learn the game a lot easier because I wrote down moves I had trouble with, outcomes of situations I hadn’t seen before and what worked/didn’t work against difficult opponents. I started off using a small $.99 pocket-sized notepad, but now I use my iPod Touch because it’s easier to find stuff. Whatever works for you, just try it out!

6. Break bad habits

This ties into the whole “not whiffing throws” thing. You should recognize your bad habits by analyzing why you are losing. Are you doing wakeup uppercuts too much? Whiffing throws? Jumping in and getting anti-aired? Make it a point to go a whole round without doing one of your bad habits and see how your game changes, even if you lose.

7. Improve your weaknesses

Analyze your game and see what your tendencies are. Maybe you primarily play rushdown style or you’re content to turtle out most matches. Make a real effort to learn how to play the opposite style. You never know when you’ll benefit in an important match by being a more versatile player.

8. Stop taking it so seriously/Start taking it more seriously

Remember, it’s just Street Fighter! Or, consider that it’s NOT just Street Fighter. Many players could benefit from taking it less seriously (myself included) because after all, it’s just Street Fighter and it’s supposed to be fun. No sense getting all worked up over nothing.

Copy Your XBox, Wii and PlayStation Games Using Game Copy Pro

Posted on Dec 09, 2008 under Fun, General Gaming Tips, Play Station, Wii, Xbox 360 | No Comment

If you’re an avid gamer like me you have probably thought at one time that it would be nice if there was a way to protect your gaming disks from been lost or damaged. I know I have spent a lot of money over the years replacing lost or damaged gaming disks. Most recently, my young son got in to my collection and proceeded to throw those fragile disks across the room - It goes without saying that many of them were damaged and rendered unplayable.

After this expensive incident I started to seek out a way to protect my disks by been able to copy then and just play the backup versions while putting the original disks out of harms way. I came across a product called Game Copy pro that stated it would make perfect backup copies of my gaming disks that I could then use. at first I was skeptical regarding this product, it seemed a little too good to be true that for 30 bucks I could copy any of my gaming disks, after all I had spent several hundred dollars over the years buying replacement copies of games that had been destroyed or damaged.

I purchased the product and installed it. This was all very easy to do. The Game Copy pro software I found to be quite easy to use. In the members area of the Game Copy Pro website they have video tutorials also that explain how the software works and the steps it takes to copy a game disk.

Copying a disk was again, quite easy to do. It took a few minutes to copy the large amounts of data that is on a game disk but you can just let Game Copy Pro do its thing while you work on other things.

I have both an Xbox and PlayStation systems and have tried making copies of games for both systems and Game Copy Pro made the copies without issue. Most new games come with some form of copy protection on them but Game Copy Pro has sophisticated algorithms that can bypass almost all of them and the developers of the program do a good job it seems of releasing new updates so that the program stays one step ahead of the latest copy protection issues.

I was surprised after joining that the program comes with a number of bonus features. Some of these bonuses include the ability to download games for free from a massive database of over three million titles! They also have an extensive collection of movies and tv shows you can download also. Plus, there is a huge library of game cheats that you can search through.

A slight disappointment was the technical support offered by the Game Copy Pro team. I had an error that kept occurring when trying to copy one of my disks and emailed support about it. It took them several days to reply offering a solution to my problem., I was a little disappointed in the response time but they did help fix my problems.

Games Can Activate Your Brain

Posted on Nov 28, 2008 under General Gaming Tips, PC Games | No Comment

Do you feel at times you are losing your mind. How is your memory? Do you walk in a room and wonder why you are there? Read on.

I love to play Solitaire on the computer. There are three games I love to play. Regular solitaire, Spider and Free Cell. These are free in the game section of your computer. These games keep your brain pumping. The more you use your brain, hopefully, you will not lose it.

Another game on the computer that really takes brain power is the puzzle express. This is timed and it comes at you fast and if you want to make points and go on to the next level you have to be fast.

I have never liked to play board games until recently. I played Rummikub with tiles. I sat down at this game and I thought it would be a no brainer. Was I surprised. If you want to win there are lots of twists into how the tiles are played. The idea of the game is to go out fast. I really had to rev up my brain in order to play this game. I even won a game. Beginners luck.

Under the solitaire games Spider solitaire is by far the hardest. I have only won a few of this game over the past couple of years. But I went home and applied the Rummikub technique to playing this game and I won 4 times in one day. Brain power.

I find it very scary to live in this world where there are various forms of dementia. I do not know about you but losing my mind and not being able to take care of myself scares me to death. I really believe playing board games, working cross word puzzles, computer games, card games, reading and talking with people will help keep your brain healthy.

The Benefits of Playing Video Games

Posted on Oct 24, 2008 under General Gaming Tips, Video Games | No Comment

For years, video games have invaded toy store shelves. Producing a variety of games that cover everything from racing to action to movies, game console manufacturers have tapped into a very lucrative industry. Although the popular phrase “too much of a good thing” does apply when it comes to video games, studies have shown that a considerable portion of games can be beneficial to the brain.

Video games help to develop and fine-tune a long list of cognitive milestones. Playing these games assists in the growth of thinking and problem-solving skills, as well as reasoning and memory capabilities. Video games can also spark a child’s interest in a particular subject, causing them to not only pick up information throughout the game, but to seek further details at a later date, such as games based on animals, nature, or real-life events.

Language remains one of the most important components of video games. During almost any particular game, the player must understand the instructions given and decide how to proceed; this is even true for young children’s games. Video games have the ability to teach kids various words in other languages, as well as encouraging them to recognize the alphabet and numbers, or begin to take the first steps towards reading. Of course, playing video games often helps to build the vocabulary of a child, regardless of age.

All too often, kids are left to play video games on their own, with parents, caregivers and other family members failing to realize the entertainment they provide. Renting a few video games makes for a great family night, as a way to get every member involved in a fun, crowd-pleasing event.

Although the cost of consoles may seem high, they will last a long time if taken care of properly. Most children treasure their game systems and keep them out of harm’s way, unlike many other toys and electronics they may own. Surprisingly, most kids are also eager to share their systems and games with others, realizing that many games are better suited to more than one player.

Know Basic Blackjack Strategy To Come Out On Top

Posted on Oct 23, 2008 under General Gaming Tips, Online Games | No Comment

Blackjack is amongst the most popular card games and has been played by millions in online and live casino throughout the world. If you are looking forward to play the game but have no idea on where to start, there is no need to fret. It’s actually very easy to play the game.

Primary objective in Blackjack
In blackjack, you are competing against a dealer rather than other players. Your primary objective is obtaining a hand that is higher in value than what dealer has and at the same time, it is lower in aggregate than 21. Rules of Blackjack state that in case you break the barrier of 21, you have been ‘busted’ and lose the game.

Determining the value of your hand
For determining your blackjack hand’s value, you require adding your cards’ value as per the game rules. Kings, Queens and Jacks are worth 10 points each. Aces carry either 11 points or 1 point, depending upon the requirement of your hand. All numbered cards are worth their face value only. Blackjack’s best hand (referred as Blackjack) consists of 2 cards and has 21 as its value. This hand should consist of an Ace and any card, which is worth 10 points.

Basic Rules of Blackjack
Blackjack starts with the player placing his bet. In this game, you require placing the bet before cards have been dealt. Both you and dealer receive 2 cards each. However, both your card will be facing up, whereas one of the dealers card will be facing down on the table. You require making decision (whether hit or stand) on the basis of his exposed card. If you hit, dealer deals an additional card for increasing your hand’s value. After getting satisfied with your hand’s value, you have the option to stand. This is followed by dealer turning his faced-down card. If it’s below your cards value, dealer will have to hit till either of the two situations arrive: 1) He has beaten your score or 2) He has gone beyond 21 to lose the game.

Similar to live dealer roulette, rules of blackjack are pretty simple. However once you have completely understood the basic Blackjack strategy, you should also learn its complicated rules. They will help you in mastering the game within a very short time.

Experience A Casino Atmosphere In Your Home

Posted on Oct 23, 2008 under Online Games | No Comment

Roulette has been one of the most popular casino games, as playing this game, with simple rules, is fun. In case of live dealer roulette, players require guessing where the ball will eventually land on the roulette wheel after every spin. For betting, you can choose the pocket’s number, color or even the wheel’s section where the ball might eventually end up after the spin. Again, there are combination bets, streets, corners, columns and list goes on (depending upon the casino in consideration).

Playing live dealer roulette in a live dealer casino can get you close to a live casino atmosphere from your home. On your computer, you can see both Roulette wheel & croupier on a real time basis. This helps you in actually seeing the roulette ball rolling around the wheel, prior to falling into the pocket. Unlike other virtual games, where sometimes random generators are also used, live dealer roulette can be tagged as the real deal.

Both live dealer roulette and its ordinary version have similar rules for playing. You need to first click on the chip that you desire to bet. Every chip has a distinct worth. After choosing the chip, you can place it on the area, where your want to bet on. Prior to the croupier spinning the ball, announcement for ‘No more bets’ is made and players are then prevented from betting further. Now, the ball is sent spinning around the roulette wheel in a direction opposite to its rotation. The ball eventually looses speed and after bouncing a bit, it lands in a particular pocket. Players, who correctly guess the pocket, get paid according to the odds decided before the game.

The only difference between the two versions is that the live dealer roulette comes with several lucrative live casino bonuses, which are impossible to resist (apart from the fact that you are playing in the comfort of your own home and enjoying a casino environment).

Start playing the live dealer roulette on the web from tonight and see if lady luck is in your side or not, before trying your hand in a live casino!
